Keeping Public Relations, Graphic Design, and Advertising on purpose and on strategy: the story behind Flight Plan™ methodology
Hart-Boillot’s Flight Plan™ methodology emerged years ago, when Nicolas Boillot took Kevin Hart on a scenic flight over Eastern Massachusetts. Kevin noticed that before every phase of the flight, Nicolas consulted a check-list to ensure that all systems were in order. This happened before starting the engine, before take-off, before landing, and when shutting down the engine. In Nicolas’ words, this guaranteed a successful flight, and ensured “that nothing will go wrong. Sometimes a small detail missed at the beginning of a flight can create a ‘domino-effect,’ leading to disaster later on in the flight.”
Flight Plan was developed based on the same principle: errors committed early in marketing or communications initiatives can create a domino effect that ultimately results in disaster. Flight Plan requires the Hart-Boillot team to review each iteration of a project or campaign, at regular intervals, against original strategic direction as well as all new information recorded along the way.
